Family Law
Mr. McLaren's law practise is devoted exclusively to the area of Family Law. He can help you with issues such as custody, access rights, child support, alimony as well as divorce and separation proceedings including the dissolution of matrimonial regimes and the partition of family patrimony.

Mediation
Mr. McLaren is also a Family Law Mediator and has been certified as such by the “Barreau du Québec”, the organization responsible for regulating the legal profession in the Province of Quebec.

What is Mediation?
Mediation is an alternative to litigation.  The mediator, an impartial person, helps the parties in reaching an agreement to resolve their dispute with respect to:  custody, access rights, alimony and partition of assets.

The process
The mediation sessions take place in the mediator's office and are completely confidential. When an agreement is reached, the mediator drafts a summary which needs to be approved by the Court to become enforceable.

The cost
In many cases, the cost of some sessions are paid for by the Quebec Department of Justice.  Ask your mediator about this program.
